Training for additive manufacture
3DPRISM has released an open-access online training course for additive manufacture (AM). The course includes information on AM systems, materials, and process parameters as well as giving training on CAD modelling for AM, basic maintenance and health and safety. 3DPRISM was a 27 month project funded through ERASMUS+ and coordinated by the AMRC at the University of Sheffield in partnership with Florida Universitaria, CECIMO, Exelia and Cimea.
The goals were:
- To support VET provision on 3D printing skills with guidelines, resources, OERs and a hands-on training methodology.
- To identity new occupational profiles in the manufacturing sector, to facilitate & accelerate the integration of new skills and qualifications in VET.
- To contribute to the implementation of EU policies on qualifications, transparency, mobility and a European industrial renaissance, creating secure & sustainable jobs.
Researchers from MMTECH provided information on direct energy deposition system used in the project and on powder characterisation and handling.
